Abstract
Discover Wayapa Wuurrk: A different approach to wellbeing 🌿
Wayapa Wuurrk is more than just a wellness practice, it is a unique and reconnective experience that blends Earth, Mind, Body and Spirit to promote deep healing and balance. Rooted in ancient Indigenous wisdom, Wayapa invites us to nurture our relationship with the land, each other and ourselves through gentle movement, storytelling, action based practices and mindfulness.
đź’ˇ What It Is:
âś… A practice based on Indigenous knowledge, focusing on connection to Country and holistic wellbeing
âś… A blend of gentle movement based on 14 elements, storytelling and mindfulness, designed for all abilities and backgrounds
âś… A way to build cultural awareness & connection while promoting mental, physical and spiritual health
âś… A unique approach to self-care that supports reconciliation, sustainability and community wellbeing
đźš« What It Is Not:
❌ A high-intensity workout—it’s about connection, not competition
❌ A one-size-fits-all approach—Wayapa is inclusive and adaptable
❌ A spiritual or religious practice—it’s about Earth-based wisdom and mindfulness
❌ Just for Aboriginal people—Wayapa is for everyone who wants to deepen their connection to Country and self.
A Wayapa Wuurrk session will be able to help a diverse range of people. Those with lived experience it will help them with understanding that Mother earth is always holding us and when we care for her she cares for us. It creates purpose for people that may be unwell and unable to manage everyday life.
Wayapa Wuurrk is about environmental sustainability and helps teach people that we are all custodians of the land and have a shared responsibility to care for the land.
Wayapa promotes reflection on how my ancestors have cared for this land for over 65,000 years and what helped them not only survive, but thrive. Wayapa Wuurrk gets us to reflect on the legacy we are all leaving and how we are nurturing our future leaders.
This session will involve an understanding of Wayapa Wuurrk is as well as the background and benefits. It will then provide opportunity to yarn and share knowledge of the 14 elements.
It will then provide an opportunity to practice the narrated movement that can be done as a visualisation if preferred.
