Mental Health Commissions: Translating Best Practice into Reality

For a number of years at TheMHS Conference, there has been a regular featured symposium on Mental Health Commissions. New Zealand led the way with the first Mental Health Commission in 1996, with Western Australia being the first Australian jurisdiction to set up a Mental Health Commission. This year TheMHS has invited the speakers to reflect on this year’s conference topic: Translating Best Practice into Reality. The first part of this session will be a talk by the WA Minister for Mental Health, the Honourable Helen Morton MLC. This will be followed by short talks by Qld Commissioner Lesley Van Schoubroeck, NSW Commissioner John Feneley, WA Commissioner Tim Marney and CEO of the National MH Commission David Butt. Sebastian Rosenberg will facilitate discussion and audience questions.
